Joan C. Texter

Joan C. Texter, 90, of Sinking Spring, passed away Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Keystone Villa in Ephrata. Born in Reading, Joan was a daughter of the late Charles A. & Catherine E. (Seyfert) Zimmerman and the loving wife to Richard D. Texter until his passing in 2002.

Joan was a graduate of Wilson High School, class of 1951 and attended Kutztown University. She was a lifelong member of the Wyomissing UCC Church in Gouglersville where she was the former president of the church consistory and the Sunday School Board. She would always make herself available for church functions and found great joy in volunteering for things like sewing the costumes for the children’s plays. Joan was also involved with the Berks Co. Graveyard Preservation and Historical Society. Joan had a vase array of talents, she played piano, enjoyed painting, and sewing. Joan even completed her own home improvement tasks and handled the household electrical and carpentry work with skill. She was creative, selfless, generous, and kind, always holding true to her beliefs and family values.

Joan is survived by her five children, Ann E. Skiba (Kurt Bosecker) of Indiana, Kimberly A. Whitekettle of Shillington, Christine L. Kindt (Danny L.) of Robesonia, Jamie L. Fisher (Jay) of Oley, and Daniel M. Texter of Knoxville, Pa; three grandchildren, Joshua Whitekettle, Cheyenne Fisher, and Mariah Texter; and two sisters, Catherine A. Snyder (Kenneth) of Newmanstown and Charlotte A. Quimby (Edward) of Prescott AZ.

Joan’s funeral will be held on Fri., July 19th at 12:00 p.m. and the viewing will be prior from 11 a.m. to noon at Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., 34 N. Reamstown Rd., Reamstown (Stevens) and interment will follow at Swamp Cemetery in Reinholds.
