John L. Gross

John Lowell Gross age 75, of Akron, Pa passed away on April 11th, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.

He spent years working as a repairman, notary, insurance salesman and retired from the IT department at Lancaster General. He was the owner of John Gross Messenger Service. He was known for his love of scuba diving and became a dive instructor. He shared countless adventures with his beloved wife, Pat, exploring the ocean together. John loved capturing moments through photography, cheering on his grandchildren at their games and activities, and spending time with his family. He was also a dedicated member of Calvary Church, where he volunteered his photography skills.

John will be remembered for his sense of humor and devotion to his family. He and Pat shared a remarkable 56 years of marriage.

He is survived by his wife, Pat Gross; his sons, Kevin (Lisa) Gross and Brad (Jocelyn) Gross; and his grandchildren: Eric (Kaylee), Ryan, Matthew, Daniel, Joelle, and Lucas. He is also survived by his sisters Kathy Flory, Connie Miller, and Lindy Newswanger. John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty.

A visitation will be held at 10AM followed by a memorial service at 11AM on Thursday, April 24th at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Rd, Lancaster. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Calvary Church at https://www.calvarychurch.org.
