Remembering John in Our Hearts... John V. Sweigart, 11, of 790 Ridge Avenue, Ephrata, Lancaster County, died as a result of a gunshot wound inflicted by his mother in his home Tuesday night. Born in Lancaster, PA, he was a son of Bryan K. Sweigart and the late Rosemary Vigilante, with whom he resided. John was a 5th grade student at Lancaster Country Day School, Lancaster, where he enjoyed reading, basketball and soccer. He was also enjoyed archery and fishing and was a Star Wars enthusiast. He also loved riding motorcycle and attending flea markets with his Dad. Surviving in addition to his father are paternal grandparents, Mel R. and Joan E. (Fake) Sweigart, Ephrata; and maternal grandmother, Mary Vigilante, Margate, New Jersey, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation Services... John's family will receive friends on Monday, February 18, 2002, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in our funeral home with a brief service to be held at 11:00 AM. A committal service will follow at Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville, Lancaster County, PA. Memorial Contributions... The family has strongly requested that flowers not be sent.
