Remembering Ken with Love... Kenneth Harold Fort, 80, of Ephrata, PA, formerly of Pemberton, New Jersey, died Friday, January 8, 2010, at home. Born in Pemberton, NJ, a son of the late Maurice and Sarah (Haines) Fort, he was the husband of Alice H. (Kellenbenz) Fort for 58 years. A Korean War Army Staff Sergeant, he was a career firefighter at McGuire AFB, retiring in 1984 as Assistant Chief. A life member and former chief of Good Will Fire Co., Pemberton, Ken was a proud charter member of the Pemberton Borough Exempt Firemen's Association and Masonic Lodge 199 Free Accepted Masons, Pemberton, New Jersey. Retiring in Ephrata, he joined Reamstown Fire Co. and served with the Fire Police, and was a member of Faith United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Denver, the Ephrata American Legion and a former member of the East Cocalico Lions Club, Reamstown. He was an avid golfer, gardener, Phillies baseball and Eagles football fan, loved traveling and spending winters in Bushnell, FL, for the past ten years. Also surviving: son, Paul (Margaret) Fort, Yardville, NJ; daughter, Marcy (John) Sumoski, Center Valley, PA; grandchildren, Joshua (Amy) Sumoski, Somerville, NJ; Matthew Sumoski, Whitehall, PA; Sarah Sumoski, Gloucester, VA; Kim Arena, Hamilton, NJ; and Shon MacPherson, Browns Mills, NJ; great-grandchildren, Owen Sumoski, Shon, Mike, Daniel, Cody, Seth, and Shane MacPherson; brothers, Joseph and Donald (Beverlee) Fort; sister, Doris (Paul) Croshaw; nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by brother, Maurice wife, Vivian Fort; sister, Elizabeth and husband, Leon Hopkins; sister-in-law Evelyn Fort, and nephew, David Fort. Memorial Service... A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at 1:00 PM in Pemberton United Methodist Church, 45 Hanover Street, Pemberton, NJ 08068, with Pastor Jereacute; Hopkins-Doerr officiating. Private inurnment in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. Rather than flowers, contributions in Ken's memory may be sent to Good Will Fire Company #1, 200 Hanover Street, Pemberton, NJ 08068 or Hospice of Lancaster Company, Post Office Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125. Guidance was provided to the Fort Family by Good Funeral Home Cremation Centre, Reamstown, PA.
