Jean Ester (Lena) Gengania , arrived in heaven on June 3, 2024, her 78 birthday. She was born in Naguilian, La Union, Philippines in 1946, and immigrated to Ephrata, PA in 1979. Lena proudly became a U.S. citizen on April 2nd 1993. She was the daughter of the late Emiliano and Eufemia Calica Gengania, and sister of Rose Gengania, Emily Pasag, Nora Abuan, Felma Nonan, Helen Rimando, Edward Gengania. Jun Gengania. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Lena lived with Dr. and Mrs. Lee Sanders for 47 years, first on Clark Air Force Base, Angeles City Philippines and in Ephrata, PA, upon arriving in the US. She will forever be loved as family by The Sanders - Lee and Debra, Rebecca, Douglas, Jordan, Avery and Sophie, and Tim, Lauren, Hailey and Chase Hackman. We miss her dearly. She was a valued employee of Moravian Manor in Lititz, PA for 30 years and appreciated the friendship, care and concern received from her coworkers especially during these past few months.
Lena was dedicated, hardworking, supportive and thoughtful. She was strong willed, honest and selfless. She wanted nothing and gave everything. Of her many interests, watching golf and baking were her favorite. Her chocolate chip cookies were a favorite of family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at 2 pm in the Steinman Hall Chapel at the Moravian Manor, Lititz, PA.
We would like to thank the Oncology Team at The Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute for their care and concern. Also, many thanks to Hospice and Community Care who provided much support and resources in Lena’s care.
