Leonard Ray Gehman

Leonard Ray Gehman, age 62, of Stevens, East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, wandered off to meet The Lord on Thursday, July 16, 2015, at 2:38 AM. Surrounded by the love and laughter of his family, he completed his 15 year Alzheimer"s journey at his home under hospice care. Born in Ephrata, he was a son of Ray W. Gehman, Ulysses, and the late Florence A. (Smith) Gehman. Leonard was an active member of Mellingers Lutheran Church, Schoeneck. A 1971 Cocalico High School graduate, he was voted the funniest male student by his classmates. Employed 23 years by High Concrete Structures, Denver, Leonard enjoyed gardening, taking great pride in his flower beds. Time spent with his family at home, playing games or puzzles, or at the beach, visiting national parks & battlefields, were all his greatest joys. As the disease took hold, Leonard was especially comforted by his faithful, four-legged companion, "Paco". Surviving are his wife of 43 years, Patrice E. (Stick) Gehman; son, Seth A. Gehman; daughter, Sarah E. (Steven M.) Zimmerman; brother, Randy T. (Sue Sexton) Gehman; & half-brother, Jay L. Smith. His mother and brother, Roger D. Gehman, predeceased him. The family would like to offer enormous thanks to the team of professionals that provided medical, legal & financial advice that allowed them to care for Leonard at home. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 20, 2015, at 11 AM from Mellingers Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Road, Stevens, PA 17578, with Rev. Timothy L. Craven officiating. Viewings will be held on Sunday from 6-8 PM at Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, and immediately prior to the church service Monday.
