Lester L. Youndt

Lester L. Youndt, age 94, formerly of Fivepointville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, July 2, 2015, at 5:55 AM in Garden Spot Village, New Holland, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Born in Fivepointville, a son of the late Allen and Frances (Lorah) Youndt, he was the husband of Theresa E. "Dolly" (Klaster) Youndt for 68 years. Lester was a WWII Marine Corps corporal serving in the Central Pacific. He co-owned and operated Youndt Brothers, Fivepointville, a well-known retail butcher shop, and a stand at Shillington Market. A member and former councilman of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville, he was a member of the Adamstown VFW; raised, showed & rode quarter horses; played pool; enjoyed fly fishing, deer & turkey hunting and loved sharing his skills with others. Traveling the country in their trailer with family & friends and oil painting birds & landscapes, were also greatly loved by Lester. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Lois A., married to Spencer S. Stober, Reinholds; & Sandra F. "Sandi", married to Craig E. Styer, Terre Hill; 5 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters: Mae Henly, Edith Weinhold, Fern Oberholtzer & Grace Hirneisen; and brother: James & Rev. Mark Youndt. He was predeceased by a daughter, Linda R. Sweigart, and brothers: Luke, Robert, Ray & Bill Youndt. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 6, at 2 PM from Peace United Church of Christ, 37 East Swartzville Road, Denver, PA 17517, with The Rev. William E. Hoch officiating. A closed casket visitation will be held from 1-2 PM. Burial will follow in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville.
