Lucy C. Snader, 95, passed away on Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024, at the WellSpan Ephrata Hospital. Born in Stevens, Lucy was the middle daughter of three to the late Abraham and Naomi (Troupe) Oberholtzer and wife of Aaron Snader for 54 years until his passing.
Lucy was very diligent, independent, and hardworking. She worked as a cook for the Denver Nursing Home, private cook for shut-ins, general laborer for Barbara Ray Inc., and hotel cleaning. She was a lifelong member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, attending there since childhood. In her younger years, Lucy explored a new hobby of playing the accordion. She continued to enjoy other hobbies like crocheting afghans, homemade doilies, and trips to the mountains with her children. Lucy was a talented baker, making the best pies with perfect crusts and cherished her milk white glass collection. Lucy’s kind and loving personality will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Lucy is survived by three children, Sandy Schutter; Sharon Wert (Rodney) of Denver, A. Troy Snader of Lancaster; six grandchildren, J. Jason Schutter, Jared J. Schutter, Tara M. Wert, Nicole M. Snader, Jenna L. Snader, Tiffany C. Wert. She is predeceased by sisters, Nettie Weaver & Verna Good, and son-in-law, John Shutter.
Viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a service starting at 11:00 a.m. at Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, 11 S Muddy Creek Rd, Denver, PA 17517. Graveside service will follow at the Muddy Creek Church Cemetery.
