Mark Y. Martin, age 97, of Ephrata, Lancaster County, PA, died Thursday, November 1, 2012, in Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Fivepointville, Lancaster County, a son of the late Henry G. and Sallie (Youndt) Martin, his wife of 72 years, Cora A. (Schankel) Martin, died August 6, 2009. An active member and Sunday School teacher at Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, Akron, he was a former active member of Hope Evangelical United Brethren Church, where he was former superintendent and teacher of the Sunday School and sang in the choir for over 60 years. He was the owner and operator of the former Cedar Crest Hotel, Denver, and had worked previously at Berkshire Knitting Mills, Lukens Steel, and Eden Paper Mill. Past president of the Cobb's Hollow Hunting Club, Potter County. Surviving are daughters, Kay A. (Donald) Kurtz, Ephrata; Pearl E. (Dale) Weller, Lititz; and Dawn R. Fortna, Ephrata; daughter in law, Mary (Royer) Martin, Lititz);11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was also predeceased by a son, M. Dale Martin; sister, Mae Gochenauer; and brothers, Carl and Floyd Martin. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 5, 2012, at 11:00 am from Grace Evangelical Congregational Church, North 7th and Fulton Streets, Akron, PA 17501-0235, with his pastor, The Rev. Les Cool, officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, PA. A viewing will be held at the church on Monday from 10:00 - 11:00 am.
