Remembering "Sparky" with Love... Marvin "Sparky" Brendle, 82, formerly of Fivepointville, Lancaster County, PA, died Sunday, June 27, 2010, at 2:00 AM in Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center , Narvon, PA, where he resided since April 2007. Born in Vera Cruz, Berks County, PA, a son of the late Elmer and Emma (Garner) Brendle, he was the husband of Joyce L. "Tootsie" (Sprecher) Brendle for almost 56 years. A member of Muddy Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church , Denver , he was a self-employed stone mason known for building numerous churches, museums and memorials in the area. A WWII Army veteran, he served as MP in the Philippines and was a personal driver for Gen. Douglas MacArthur. Sparky was a charter member and chief of Fivepointville Fire Company for over 15 years, a life member of Adamstown VFW and an avid hunter, having membership in Cushion Peak Rod Gun Club. He also enjoyed antique cars, playing cards and tending to his apple trees. Also surviving: daughters, Kimberly Lee (Randl J.) Roth, and Jill Salome (Gerald) Hartranft, both Denver ; grandchildren, Jason R. Roth and Lindsey S. Hartranft; brother, Allen (Madelyn Fritz) Brendle, Adamstown, and sister, Noreen Jaznock. A brother, Richard, predeceased him. Memorial Service... There will be no viewing. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 1, at 10:00 am from Muddy Creek Lutheran Church , 11 S. Muddy Creek Rd. , Denver , PA 17517 with The Rev. Paul W. Smeltz and The Rev. David T. Hinkley officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Private inurnment with military honors from Cedar Grove Cemetery , Adamstown. Rather than flowers, contributions to the church Memorial Fund, the Alzheimer's Assoc., 3544 N.
