Mary E. Doersom

Mary E. Doersom, age 90, formerly of Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 12:15 pm in Fieldcrest of Brethren Village, Lititz, Lancaster County. Born in York, York County, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Fairy (Ruth) Doersom and was of the Catholic Faith. Mary graduated from West York High, and worked for 34 years for the former RCA, Lancaster. Retiring in 1987, she was a Meals on Wheels kitchen volunteer in Ephrata and later excelled as a dollmaker. Her small dolls were sold at the Quilt Museum, the Lancaster Historical Society, Landis Valley Farm Museum and several retail stores throughout Lancaster County. Each doll was dated and signed by personally by Mary Doersom. Her small dolls not only touched the lives of local children and adults, many were known to have traveled the world over. She never counted the number of dolls that she made! Mary was a friend to all and a helpmate to many at Brethren Village for the past 16 years. For 14 years, she volunteered in the mailroom, sorting letters and packages for the residents. She is survived by a nephew, Joseph Doersom, Dover, York County. A brother, John Doersom, preceded her in death. At Mary"s request, graveside services will be held in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Route 30, New Oxford, Adams County, PA 17350, on Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at 3:30 PM with Father Steven Fauser officiating. A memorial celebration of Mary's life will be held in Chives American Grille, Fieldcrest of Brethren Village, 3001 Lititz Pike, Lancaster, PA 17606 on Friday, April 25th at 1:00 PM.
