Michael Ruth

Michael J. Ruth, 54, of Shillington, passed away Sunday night, August 8, 2021, at Tower Health Reading Hospital just weeks after an aggressive cancer diagnosis. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late John R. Sr. & Judith C. (Hall) Ruth. Mike was a veteran; he proudly served in both the U.S. Army and Airforce. He was a graduate of Wyomissing High School, class of 1984 and received a business degree from Alvernia University. Mike began his career at the Bollman Hat Co. in Adamstown, he held other jobs in the surrounding area, and most recently he worked at VRC as the director of operations where he quickly became a valued asset. He loved working on cars and going to airshows. Family trips to Ocean City, NJ was always a favorite. Mike loved everything that had to do with his kids - he was a total Cheer-Dad, attending high school football and basketball games, and chatting with the other spectator parents. He was very outgoing and loved to make people laugh. Mike was an excellent leader at home and in the workplace. He will forever be remembered for his compassionate and giving spirit. Mike is survived by his four children, Jackie Ruth of Austin TX, Jessica Ruth (Will Zimmermann) of Shillington, Brady Ruth and Laurelai Ruth, also at home in Shillington; sister, Judith Karish of Wyomissing; brother, John Ruth Jr. of Wyomissing; and his jack russell terrier, Starcrunch. A viewing will be held on Thurs., Aug 12th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., 34 N. Reamstown Rd., Reamstown (Stevens), Pa., where a funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held Sat., Aug. 21st at the Shillington Park, Pavilion #3, from 1 to 5p.m., please bring a dish to share.
