Mildred Eshelman

Remembering Mildred with Love... Mildred B. Eshelman, 88, of 24 North Church Street , Ephrata, died Monday, June 5, 2006, at 6:00 PM in her residence under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County. Born August 8, 1917, in Ephrata, she was a daughter of the late J. Herman and Cora M. (Wolf) Bishop. Her husband, Horace S. Eshelman, died April 15, 2005. A member and longtime Sunday school teacher of Bethany United Church of Christ, Ephrata, she was a member and co-chair of the Merry Elders had also been employed as a teacher's aide by Bethany Nursery School. Mildred as an active volunteer was longtime secretary and membership secretary of the Historical Society of the Cocalico Valley , where she was also a life member. She was a life member of the Ephrata Railroad Station, supporter of the Ephrata Concert Band's concerts in the park, and former board member of the auxiliary of Ephrata Community Hospital where she was an assistant chaplain and helped at the hospital's snack bar, cafeteria and gift cart. She also was a member of ECH's Early Bird Walkers Club where she participated until age 86. Graduating Ephrata High School in 1935, she was a member of the "35 Club". She was also a member of the "Jolly 17ers", former usher at the Ephrata Playhouse in the Park, enjoyed crossword puzzles, game shows, embroidery and was an award winning baker. Surviving is a daughter, Eileen L. Eshelman, Ephrata , PA ; 3 sons, Carl C., husband of Celeste (Fink) Eshelman, Akron, PA; J. Pat, husband of Sheila D. (Mosako) Eshelman, and Neil H. Eshelman, both of Ephrata, PA; 4 grandchildren, Patricia, Michelle, Jennifer and Jeff; and 6 great-grandchildren, Lauren, Kelly, Cody, Alex, Jake and Samantha; a sister, Ruth Ann, wife of Bruce Weaver, Annville, PA; and a brother, Rev. J. Richard, husband of Miriam (Boone) Bishop, Elizabethtown, PA. A son, Phillip H. Eshelman, and a brother, Carl A. Bishop, preceded her in death. Viewing Funeral Service...A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 PM from Good Funeral Home Cremation Centre, Inc. of Reamstown, and on Friday at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 9, 2006, at 11:00 AM from Bethany United Church of Christ, 140 East Main Street , Ephrata , PA 17522 , with her pastor, Rev. Mark J. Johnson, officiating. Burial will follow in Terre Hill Cemetery , Terre Hill , PA. The family requests that flowers not be sent and that you remember Mildred with contributions to Hospice of Lancaster County, P. O.
