Mildred W. (Schnader) Shimp, age 90, peacefully left her earthly home at Ephrata Manor, 99 Bethany Road, Ephrata, Lancaster County, PA, on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 2:42 PM. Born at Stone Hill, Lancaster County, PA, the youngest daughter of the seven children of Richard R. and Catherine (Witwer) Schnader, Mildred worked for the former Redcay"s Hat Factory, Adamstown, PA, and for Fritz"s Meats at Green Dragon, Ephrata, PA. She married Galen K. Shimp on January 5, 1945, and resided in the area near her birth for 53 years. After Galen"s death on April 9, 1997, she moved to Ephrata, and later to Ephrata Manor. Mildred was a member of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, Swartzville, and is survived by 3 children, Jere, husband of Joan (Zerbe) Shimp, and Gail, wife of Ted Bare, both of Ephrata; and Thomas Shimp, Reading; 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Siblings, Llewellyn, Leon, Clair, Carl and Richard Schnader and Kathryn Sweigart predeceased her. A private graveside service and burial will be held by the family in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville. Rather than flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, 11 South Muddy Creek Road, Denver, PA 17517.
