Minerva Mae Fry

Minerva Mae Fry, age 103, formerly of Ephrata & Adamstown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, passed on to her eternal home on Friday, January 2, 2015, at 2:13 AM, in LutherCare, Lititz, her home for 9 years. Born in Swartzville, Lancaster County, a daughter of the late James L. and Elsie S. (Musser) Shober, her husband of 81 years, Franklin D. Fry, died April 4, 2011. An active, lifetime member & 20 year financial secretary of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, Denver, she also volunteered with The Red Cross at Ephrata Community Hospital and Ephrata Meal on Wheels. She co-founded "Dutchie Soft Pretzels", and had worked for Adamstown Hat Company, K&F Hosiery Company, Ephrata, and Shrafft"s Restaurant, Denver. Mae took great pride as a homemaker; enjoying cooking, gardening, and needlework. Other interests were cards, auctions & traveling in their camper. Surviving is a daughter, Marian, wife of Marvin Blaylock, Ephrata; grandsons, Mark Blaylock & Jeff Bottoms; sisters, Betty Teele, Quakertown; & Dorothy Shealer, Ephrata; and brothers, Paul Shober, Ephrata; & James (Joyce Smith) Shober, Jr., Reamstown. A daughter, Virginia Bottoms; granddaughter, Karen Bottoms; sisters, Naomi Demming & Kathryn Leid; and brothers, Ellis, Lester & Clair predeceased her. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 8, at 2 PM from Good Funeral Home, Reamstown, with Chaplain E. Walter Cleckley officiating. Burial will be in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville. The viewing will be one hour prior to the service. Rather than flowers, contributions remembering Mae may be sent to her church memorial fund, 11 S. Muddy Creek Rd., Denver, PA 17517. The family is grateful for the loving, excellent care provided by everyone at LutherCare.
