Patricia Anne (Painter) Gilmer, 76, of Ephrata, passed away Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Lancaster, Pat was a daughter of the late James L. & Anne Marie (Shaw) Painter and the loving wife to Melvin R. Gilmer for 52 years.
Pat grew up in Lancaster. She married Mel in 1971 and together raised three children. Raising the children and caring for her family was Pat’s highest priority. Pat and Mel moved to Wichita, KS in 1995 to be with family, and stayed there for 20-years until returning to Ephrata to care for Mel’s mom. Some of Pat’s favorite memories were in Bar Harbor RV Park and Marina, near Baltimore, where she would enjoy camping with her family. She was steadfast and loyal, loving and kind, always having the time and patience to listen and help. Pat enjoyed her collection of knickknacks and wooden figurines, particularly her assorted dolphin collection. Her love of family will forever be cherished.
In addition to her husband, Pat is survived by three children, Robert M. (Candice) Gilmer, Melanie A. Gilmer, Patrick J. (Hannah) Gilmer, all of Wichita, KS.; six grandchildren, Jakoda, Chryallis, Brandon, Treyvon, Brittanie, and Brayden; a sister, Vicki (Barry) Diem of Ephrata and a brother, James A. (Stacey) Painter of Ephrata; 11 loving nieces and nephews. Pat was predeceased by her sister, Trudy Lefever, and a nephew.
