Patricia A. Dangelo, 78, of Ephrata, formerly of Greensburg and Ligonier, PA, passed away in Maple Farm Nursing Center in Akron Saturday, August 24, 2024. Born in Greensburg, Pat was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Carmella ( DiCesere) Trongo, and the loving wife of 55-years to Benedict L. Dangelo. Ben knew in the first grade that there was something special about Pat, but it wasn’t until a high school dance brought them together that their shared journey truly began.
Pat was a graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School, Class of 1963. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from the former Seton Hill College and later pursued a Master’s degree in Home Economics Education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Most recently, Pat dedicated her professional life to the Lancaster County WIC program as a nutritionist, where she made a significant impact in the lives of local children. Prior to that, she taught 1st and 2nd grades at Holy Trinity Elementary in Ligonier, PA, and contributed her expertise as a nutritionist to the Seton Hill Day Care, supporting underprivileged kids in the Greensburg area. A devoted member of OMPH Catholic Church since 1993, Pat served as an extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist from 1997 onward. She was actively involved in religious education alongside her husband, brought her ministry to local nursing homes and shut-ins, and participated in prison ministry. Pat was also a baptism coordinator, touching the lives of many in her community. Pat was a skilled seamstress, often creating clothing for her family. She also had a passion for nurturing her flower and vegetable garden. Family was at the heart of her life; she cherished her role as "Grammy" and found immense joy in spending time with her grandchildren. Her warmth and kindness made her a social beacon, drawing people to her effortlessly. Pat had a remarkable ability to connect with others, always offering prayer, encouragement, and support. Her genuine involvement in the lives of those around her will be deeply missed. Pat leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and passionate faith that will forever resonate in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be remembered for her unwavering spirit and the profound impact she had on countless lives.
In addition to her husband, Pat is survived by a sister, Marie G. Trongo; two children, Melissa M. Sellars (TJ) of Womelsdorf and Michael M. Dangelo (Jennifer) of State College; five grandchildren, Malachi S. Dangelo (Angela), Sarah R. Dangelo (Chris Helmerich), Ruthie M. Becker (Evan), Gracie N. Dangelo, and Rachel L.
