Paul Raymond Smeltz, age 98, formerly of Gordonville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at 10:40 PMin LutherCare atLuther Acres, Lititz, Lancaster County, PA.Born in Paradise Township, Lancaster County, a son of the late Harry Cleveland and Maude K. (Bowermaster) Smeltz, he celebrated his 75th Wedding Anniversary with his wife, Gladys Pauline (Porter) Smeltz, on March 15th. Paul owned operated Smeltz's Auto Body, Gordonville, for over 50 years. He was a member, Sunday school teacher, council member and sang in the choir of St. Michael's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Strasburg, PA. Years ago, Paul played numerous instruments in Country Western Groups; one group being a warm-up group for Roy Ackoff in Rising Sun, MD. While living at Luther Acres he enjoyed volunteering around the campus. Surviving in addition to his wife, ishisdaughter, Beverly Ann, married to Rev. Dr. Ted E. Edwards, Fuquay Varina, North Carolina; his son, Rev. Paul W., married to Holly S. (Sandvig) Smeltz, Lititz (former pastor of Muddy Creek Lutheran Church, Denver, PA); his sister, Gladys Denlinger, a resident of Garden Spot Village, New Holland; 5 grandchildren 6 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held onFriday, April 8, at 3:00 PM from Luther Acres Chapel, 600 E. Main St., Lititz, PA 17543, with his pastor, The Reverend Cheryl Hoffman, officiating. Private inurnment by the familywill be in St. John's United Methodist Cemetery, Paradise, PA. Rather than flowers, contributions to St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 40 E. Main St., Strasburg, PA 17579.
