Remembering Phares... Phares W. Sweigert, 92, formerly of Palmyra, Lebanon County, died Saturday evening at 11:40 PM in Maple Farms Nursing Center, Akron, Lancaster County, where he resided since November 16th. Born in Reading, Berks County, he was a son of the late Franklin and Mabel L. (Wheelock) Sweigert. He was a peacetime veteran having played in the Army Band. An avid musician, he played saxophone and enjoyed band music most of his life. Phares was employed years ago as a slot machine repairman in Las Vegas and was a truck driver for Jarvis Trucking in later years. Surviving is a daughter, F. Rhoda, married to Emil Uibel, Finksburg, Maryland; 4 grandchildren,6 great-grandchildren; and 4 sisters, June Sweigert, Anderson, California; Flora Sweigert, also a resident of Maple Farms Nursing Center, Akron, PA; Hope Masker, Salem, Virginia; and Grace, married to John H. Gangaway, Denver, PA. Viewing Services... Phares' viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2002, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM from our parlor with the funeral to be held at 11:00 AM with Pastor Dave J. Berwick officiating. Burial will follow in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville, Lancaster County, PA.
