Raymond G. Groff

December 10, 1936 — September 15, 2023

Raymond G. Groff, 86, of Akron, passed away Friday, September 15, 2023. Born and raised in Conestoga, he was the son of the late Raymond E. & Cora M. (Gebhart) Groff and the loving husband of 62 years to Mary Frances (Troyan) Groff.


Ray was the owner and operator of R.G. Groff Co., an automotive services shop in Akron, where he installed air conditioning, cruise controls, and sound systems for over 30 years and retired in 1989. He enjoyed working on computers, often solving computer problems for his neighbors and friends. Always busy doing something, Ray was handy around the house and enjoyed working on his 1979 Ford Ranchero. He had a big heart for animals and had several beloved dog companions over the years. Ray had a quiet and friendly manner, his presence at family gatherings will be greatly missed. He loved time with his family and enjoyed being a grandpa. He was a faithful member of OMPH Church in Ephrata.


In addition to his wife, Ray is survived by two children, Anne K. Weaver of Pequea and Joshua R. Groff (Heather) of Lititz; six grandchildren, Kimberly R. Weaver, Eric M. Weaver (Heather), Jennifer V. Weaver, Andrew S. Weaver, Nathaniel P. Weaver, and Cambria A. Groff; six great grandchildren, Mathew A. Weaver, Dylan I. Weaver, Naomi E. Weaver, Kai A. Weaver, Kelly D. Weaver, & Shepherd T. Weaver; and a half-brother, Rickie D. Groff (Alicia).


A funeral mass will take place on Mon., Sept. 25th at 11:00 a.m. at OMPH Church, 320 Church Ave, Ephrata, PA 17522, and visitation will be held prior from 10 to 11a.m. also in church. Interment will follow at the St. Josephs (New) Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster.
