Raymond N. "Flash" Long

Remembering Raymond N. "Flash" Long... Raymond N. "Flash" Long, 90, of 485 Wabash Road, Ephrata, Lancaster County, died Monday morning at 6:45 AM in the Denver Nursing Home, Stevens, Lancaster County, where he was a guest since May 21st. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Ray S. and Flora G. (Smith) Long. His wife, Catherine H. (Scheidler) Kreeger Long, died April 26, 1983. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational Church, Reamstown. Retiring in 1990, he was employed for over 30 years as a licensed projectionist by the Main Theatre, Ephrata, Lancaster County. He was also a self-employed electrician for many years and had worked at the former Roxy Theatre, Ephrata. Mr. Long also operated the family farm outside of Reamstown for many years. Having an avid interest in the railroad, trains and model trains, he was a member of the Rough Tumble Engineers Historical Society, Kinzer, PA, and the Railroad Ramblers, Lititz, PA. He was also an amateur photographer and built puppets marionettes. Surviving is a daughter, Lynnae C. (Long) Kelly; a stepdaughter, Louise M. (Kreeger), married to Allen S. Neal, Saylorsburg, PA; 2 grandchildren 2 step-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Susan K. (Kreeger) Smith, and 2 brothers, Homer and Howard Long. Visitation Services... There will be no viewing for Raymond. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 5, 2003, from 2:00 to 3:00 PM from our funeral parlor. The memorial ceremony will begin at 3:00 PM with his pastor, The Reverend Kirk R. Marks, officiating.You are welcome to also attend the graveside committal ceremony to bury the urn on Monday morning, January 6, 2003, at 11:00 AM in Salem Union Cemetery, East Church Street (behind Salem United Church of Christ), Reamstown, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.It is asked that rather than flowers, contribution be sent in Raymond's memory to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
