We'll remember Richard... Richard E. Oberholtzer, 79, of 6 Oak Lane, Stevens, Lancaster County, died Monday morning, September 2, 2002, at 4:45 AM in the Denver Nursing Home where he was admitted on August 19, 2002. Born in East Cocalico Township, Lancaster County, he was a son of the late Harry B. and Nettie (Eberly) Oberholtzer, and was the husband of Roma H. (Garman) Oberholtzer, for 55 years on April 5th. He was a member, past treasurer and council member of Muddy Creek Evangelical Lutheran Church, Swartzville, where he had also been active on the dart ball league. Retiring in 1988, Richard was the secretary of the Reamstown Mutual Insurance Company, Reamstown, for 30 years, and had been a longtime agent with Erie Insurance Company in the Reamstown Area. He was also a self-employed farmer for many years. A 1940 graduate of East Cocalico High School, Reamstown, he served on the former East Cocalico Township School Board and later on the Cocalico Union School Board. Oberholtzer was a member of the East Fork Rod Gun Club, Potter County. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was also a member of Ephrata Lodge #665 Free Accepted Masons. Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Jane L. (Oberholtzer) Wenger, Ephrata; 4 grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Grace E. (Oberholtzer) Sweigart, Lake City, FL. A son, R. Dean Oberholtzer, preceded him in death on June 5, 1994. Viewing Funeral... Richard's viewing will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2002, from 7:00 to 9:00 PM in our parlor. The funeral ceremony will take place on Friday, September 6th beginning at 11:00 AM with his pastor, The Reverend Jeffrey K. Lott, officiating. The casket will be open for viewing at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in Muddy Creek Cemetery, Swartzville, PA.
