Richard E. "Toby" Tobias

Richard E. 'Toby' Tobias, age 85, Adamstown Borough, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, died Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 2:20 AM in Reading Hospital Medical Center, West Reading. Born in Reading, Berks County, a son of the late Edwin E. and Ruth (McCallicher) Tobias, he was married to M. Virginia (Rudy) Tobias for 61 years. He was a Korean War army sergeant and worked as plant electrician at Bollman Hat Company, Adamstown, for over 30 years. He also tended bar at Galen Hall Country Club, Stoudt's Black Angus Hilltop Inn. Toby was a member of Peace United Church of Christ, Swartzville,was an avid Pirates, Penguins Steelers fan and enjoyed gardening golf. Also surviving is his son, Gregory E. 'Toby', married to Diane (Wolf) Tobias, Shillington; grandchildren, Derek A., married to Jessica (Schmehl) Tobias, Shillington; Jessica L., married to Derek Schrufer, Mohnton; great-grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Madison, Mia and Lexi. His brother, Gerald E. Tobias, predeceased him. At Toby's request, private graveside services will be held in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Adamstown. Rather than flowers, contributions to Peace UCC, 37 E.
