Richard Palsgrove

November 3, 1920 — August 15, 2018

Richard J. Palsgrove, 97, of Denver, passed away at Zerbe Sisters Nursing Center on Wed., Aug. 15, 2018. He was a son of Earl A. & Nora E. (Heiser) Palsgrove and the devoted husband of Robinette F. (Sheipe) for 71 years. Richard was a U.S. Army and Air Force veteran, served in WWII with the 1st Division, 18th Regiment, receiving 8 campaign stars including the invasions of Africa, Sicily, and Normandy and served in the 193rd Special Operations Wing of the PA Air National Guard for 32 years. Richard was a life member of the VFW and a member of Peace United Church of Christ, where he served on various committees, & as the church administrator for many years. He enjoyed reading, bus trips, going to auctions, & having yard sales. In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by four children: Richard S. Palsgrove of Denver, Linda F. Miller Thum of New Holland, Barbara A. Hoffert (Keith) of Fivepointville, & Bruce L. Palsgrove (Kathy) of Stevens; five grandchildren: Beth (Ben) Kauffman, Brent (Jessica) Palsgrove, Michael (Kim) Hoffert, Kristen (Adam) Heaps, & Stephanie (Andrew) Shahade, seven great grandchildren & one due in Sept., & two step-great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Palsgrove and two sisters, Frances Weidenhammer & Dorothy Boyer. Visitation will be Thursday, Aug. 23rd, 10 11 am at Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., 34-38 N. Reamstown Rd., Reamstown, PA 17567 where a Memorial Service will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery Annex, Denver, PA including Military Honors by the 193rd Special Operations Wing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the 193rd SOW Association, 81 Constellation Ct. #14, Middletown, PA 17057 or the Adamstown Area Library Room to Grow Campaign, PO Box 356, Adamstown, PA 19501.
