Robert L. Holmes, 82, of Denver, passed away Saturday, May 25th, 2024, at the WellSpan Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Charleston, West Virginia, he was a son of the late Florence Hayes. He was the husband of the late Judith Marie Holmes until her passing, March 3, 2023. .
Robert trained as an electrician in the US Navy in the 1960s. After his honorable discharge, “Bobby Lee” transferred to the US Naval Reserve. Bob then joined the civilian workforce and enjoyed many places of employment. Over the years, Bob worked at Goodyear Tire, International Paper, and Kalas Manufacturing as an Industrial Electrician. Bob even had experience as a car Salesmen at Dearden Buick in the 1970s. After retiring, he enjoyed managing the Four Seasons Produce employee store. Bob was also a member and treasurer of the Garden Spot Lions Club for many years until he moved to Portsmouth VA. After his recent move back to Lancaster County PA, he rejoined both the Lions Club and local VFW, favoring his time with friends over meals.
Bob enjoyed hanging around with his family and friends. Amongst his favorite activities were sitting on the porch and enjoying the weather, listening to classic country music, cookouts and shopping, especially for food. Bob spent a lot of time tinkering with and building anything and everything. Bob made memories going to the casino with his family, enjoying the live music. Bob truly loved his late wife, spending many hours on their back porch together, and caring for her. He loved sitting on the deck with a nice cup of coffee, and enjoyed airshows with his children and grandchildren. Bob was definitely a social butterfly, he loved just chatting and catching up with his family. His outgoing personality and caring heart will be deeply missed.
Robert is survived by four children, Lisa (Paul) Herrmann, Valerie (Rick) Pruitt, Cheryl (Dan) Hawk, Micheal (Prudence) Holmes; nine grandchildren, Lauren Perry (Adam Haller), Emilee Herrmann, Sarah, Rebekah, Ethan, Julianna Hawk. Josh, Christopher, & Brandon Holmes; and fur-baby, Daisy.
