Rose Hanrahan

Rose Hanrahan passed away on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the Gardens of Stevens after a short illness. Prior to her residence at the Gardens of Stevens, Rose resided in Akron for 40 years. Rose is survived by her husband Sean to whom she was married for 60 years, her son Sean Jr, daughter in-law Kelly (Fassnacht) along with the joys of her life, her three grand-children Colin, Clare and Ryan, whom she affectionately called “Ry Ry”. Rose would have been a great grandmother this coming April with the birth of her great grand-daughter to Colin and his wife Shelbey (Manthorpe). Rose was born in Greenwich Village in New York City on Sept 14, 1930 to Italian parents, Philippe and Antoinette Polverini and lived there until early adulthood with her sister Eleanor. Rose had fond memories of growing up in New York City as she would recall, for instance, riding the subway for only 5 cents to see Frank Sinatra at the Paramount Theater. Rose graduated from Public School 46, later attended business school and upon graduation was employed by the Great American Insurance Company. She met her husband Sean at Great American and they were married in 1960. Rose lived with her husband and son in Pittsburgh and Lancaster before settling in Akron. Rose was an active parishioner at Our Mother of Perpetual Help and a volunteer at Ephrata Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church 320 Church Ave., Ephrata, PA 17522 on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 11 a.m. Final Commendation and Farewell will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, PA. Rose will be interred beside her late sister, Eleanor (Polverini) Andreycak. Those attending the service are kindly asked to follow CDC recommended social distancing and wear masks.
