Roy Hackman

Roy Paul Hackman, 61 of Akron, entered the gates of Heaven on February 20, 2022, after a 19-year battle with Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. He is now breathing easy and free from pain. Roy was born and raised in Ephrata and spent countless years coaching youth baseball, softball, and football. He was also actively involved with the Ephrata Cheerleading program and Ephrata High School Marching unit. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies fan and loved classic rock music. He also enjoyed spending time in the mountains and hunting. Above all else, Roy was an incredibly proud father and Grampy. Roy is survived by five daughters, Amie Shank (Gregory) of Greencastle, Jamie Deamer of Lititz, Rochelle Hendrickson (Stephen) of Ephrata, Rachel Hackman of Harrisburg, and Racquel Hackman of Stevens. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Lucas and Landon Shank, Maxon Hackman, Karleigh and Westin Deamer, Masyn Donnelly, and Raelynn and Bennett Hendrickson. In addition, he is survived by one sister, Ramona Lorah (Rick) of Stevens and four brothers, Marvin Hackman, Jr. of Ephrata, Eugene Hackman (Patricia) of Ephrata, Brett Hackman of Lock Haven, Thomas Hackman (Heather) of Sinking Spring. He also leaves behind ten nieces, four nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Roy was welcomed to Heaven by his parents, Marvin Sr., and Marion Hackman. A viewing will be held on Mon., Feb. 28th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Good Sipler Funeral & Cremation Centre, Inc., 34 N. Reamstown Rd., Reamstown (Stevens), Pa. An additional viewing will be held on Tuesday, March 1st from 9 am to 10 am followed by a memorial service from 10 am to 11 am. Interment will follow at Lincoln Cemetery in Ephrata, Pa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Alpha-1 Foundation (alpha1.org) in memory of Roy.
