Samuel G. Heiser, 77, of Reinholds, passed away Friday, March 1, 2024, at Ephrata Manor after a battle with cancer. Born in Rothsville, Sam was the son of the late Samuel G. Heiser Sr. and Dorothy Heiser (Smith) Rauser, who was also fondly raised by his stepfather, Henry Rauser. He was the devoted husband of 57 years to Nancy L. (Hauck) Heiser.
Sam was a graduate of Cocalico High School, class of 1965. He proudly served in the Army Reserves, demonstrating a commitment to his country. He worked as a shipping supervisor for many years with High Concrete Structures and later as a carpenter, retiring after 43 years. An avid golfer, Sam enjoyed straight shots down the fairway in the loving company of Nancy, a hobby they both shared. Sam was very handy and a crafty woodworker; he assisted with building his own house, made furniture and dollhouses, and constructed many precious pieces for his family. Sam also enjoyed family trips to the beach and fishing trips to Lake Erie with his work buddies. He was a faithful member of Mellingers Lutheran Church and enjoyed bowling with the church league. Sam enjoyed traveling and had a fun quizzical allure to collecting ducks. He loved his role as Pop Pop and prioritized his family. His family will forever treasure his gentle nature and quiet wisdom.
In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by two daughters, Tammy Porter of Denver and Tricia Johnson (wife of Mike) of Denver; five grandchildren, Daphne Heiser, Austin Aletriz, Ben Porter (husband of Hannah), Alexis Johnson, and Bella Johnson; three great-grandchildren, Myah Walton, Thomas Walton, and Paisley Walton. Predeceasing Sam are his infant brother, Robert Heiser; half-brother, Melvin Geib; and half-sister, Angela Swartz.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 9 at 11:00 am at Mellingers Lutheran Church, 80 Gockley Rd, Stevens, PA 17578, officiated by Rev. Timothy L. Craven. The family will receive friends and guests from 10 am. to 11 am at the church.
