Shirley R. Kochel

Shirley R. Eitnier Kochel, 87, of Ephrata passed away at The Gardens at Stevens on Monday, August 13, 2018. She was born in Lititz to the late Valentine Eitnier and the late Barbara Williams Eitnier. She was also predeceased by a brother Richard Eitnier. Shirley graduated from Ephrata High School Class of 1949, where she was a cheerleader. Her earlier years were spent waitressing at several local restaurants. She later worked for Bollman Hat Company from which she retired. After retiring, Shirley worked part time at the Shopping News in the mailroom until 2017 when her health started to decline. She is survived by three children. David Kochel, companion of Terri Young, Ephrata. Diane Whitekettle, companion of Colby Acla, Ephrata. Donald Kochel, companion of Krista, Denver. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren: Joshua Kochel, husband of Crystal Hoang Kochel, Allison Kochel, Scott Whitekettle, Kristy Whitekettle, Stacy Reed, wife of Tim Reed, and Stephanie Kochel. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Morrison Kochel, Bowie Kochel, Jocelynn Vigo, Maximus Vigo, Jonathan Syp, and Liam Reed. She also loved her fur babies Rosebud and Buttercup. Friends will be received at Gravenor Home For Funerals, 100 W. Main St., Ephrata, PA 17522 on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 10 to 11 a.m. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. and interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, PA. The family would like to thank The Gardens at Stevens, Caring Hospice, and Hospice and Community Care for the care they gave to Shirley. 0
