Valerie A. Hoffman peacefully passed away at age 68, following a brave battle with illness. She passed on Tuesday, July 17th, at Moravian Manor. Her life ended as she lived it�with the love of her family and friends, whose lives are better because they were touched by her caring and generous spirit. Val was born in Ephrata and lived in Maryland before settling in Lancaster to work most of her career with the School District of Lancaster City, as a teacher and then a guidance counselor. She received her Masters Degree in Education from Millersville University. Her relationship with the students she advised was one of deep commitment and affection, and she was so moved by their success and continued contact through the years. Valerie was the daughter of the late Robert E. and Sara E. Hoffman. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Betsy E. Lee, and is survived by her brother John R. Hoffman, of Byron Bay, Australia, and sister Amy L. Dickinson of Millersville. She is also survived by her beloved niece, Carey E. Kenny, husband Daniel Kenny, and their children Aidan and Morgan, who brought her the purest joy. A celebration of Valerie's life will be held at Steinman Hall of Moravian Manor, 300 W. Lemon Street, Lititz, on Friday, July 27.th Please enter through the main entrance. Visitation will begin at 10:30 and a memorial service will begin at 11:00, followed by a luncheon. A private burial will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice and Community Care or the Benevolent Fund of Moravian Manor. Arrangements have been entrusted to Gravenor Home for Funerals, in Ephrata.
