Viola Alice Fort, age 82, of Ephrata Township, Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, formerly of New Jersey, died Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at 6:15 AM in her residence. Born in Philadelphia, a daughter of the late Alexander and Viola (Reynolds) Kellenbenz, her husband of 58 years, Kenneth H. Fort, died January 8, 2010. Alice was a 1950 Pemberton High School graduate, and was a secretary at Pemberton Township High School for almost 20 years. She served 2 terms with both the Pemberton Borough School Board, and as town council police commissioner. Moving to Ephrata in 1984, she was an active member of the former Salem Lutheran Church, Reamstown, and Faith United Lutheran Church, Denver, and worked part-time as secretary at the churches, Ephrata School District superintendent's office and the Cocalico Middle School. She enjoyed camping, quilting, sewing and quality time with family and friends; and spent many happy winters in their Bushnell, FL, home. Surviving is a son, Paul K. (Margaret) Fort, Yardville, NJ; daughter, Marcy (John Jr.) Sumoski, Center Valley, PA; grandchildren: Joshua (Amy) Sumoski, Somerville, NJ; Matthew Sumoski, Catasauqua, PA; Sarah Sumoski, Newport News, VA; Kim Arena, Hamilton, NJ; & Shon MacPherson, Browns Mills, NJ; great-grandsons: Owen, Wyatt & Elliot Sumoski; and Shon, Daniel, Cody, Seth & Shane MacPherson; great-great-granddaughter, Alliana MacPherson; sister, Jackie (Stacy Jr.) Stockton; sisters-in-law: Beverly Fort & Doris Croshaw; and nieces & nephews. A sister, Hazel Guenzel, also predeceased her. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at 11 AM, in St. Mark Lutheran Church, 801 Pemberton-Browns Mills Rd., Pemberton, NJ 08068, with a visitation from 9-11 AM. Committal service will follow at 1 PM in BG William Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Rd., Wrightstown, NJ 08562.
