Willard L. Pennabecker

Willard L. Pennabecker, age 79, of Denver Borough, Lancaster County, PA, died Sunday, October 26, 2014, at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown, PA. Born in Ephrata, PA, a son of the late Leon and Elva (Meckley) Pennabecker, he was married to Judith A. (Rathman) Pennabecker for 60 years. A 1953 Denver High School graduate, he was a member and deacon of St. John"s United Church of Christ, Denver. Willard had owned & operated Penn Dutch Laboratory Animals, Denver; was a realtor with Century 21; and had worked for MGS Trailers and Schick Corp., Lancaster. He was a member of Ephrata Lodge #665 F&AM, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, Denver Borough Council and a committeeman of Denver Boy Scouts of America. He loved attending his grandchildren"s activities, cherished his trips with Judith to America"s national parks and was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. Also surviving is his daughter, Gail L., wife of Robert Frankhouser, Lancaster; sons, Jan L., husband of Jane (Moll) Pennabecker, Sinking Spring; and Dean L. Pennabecker, Denver; 6 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren; and a niece & nephew. He was predeceased by a sister, Edith Showatler. Family & friends are invited to his graveside service on Saturday, November 1, 2014, at 2 PM, in Fairview Cemetery Annex, Steinmetz Road, Denver, PA, 17517 with The Rev. Peter Ogilvie, officiating. There will be no viewing. Rather than flowers, contributions may be sent to Water Street Rescue Mission, 210 S. Prince St., Lancaster, PA 17603.
