William B. “Bill” Leonard, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 7th, 2025, at the age of 92 at Maple Farm Nursing Home. Born and raised in Ephrata, Bill was a son of the late Raymond H. & Edith (Drybread) Leonard. He was also the loving husband to Sally L. (Slote) Leonard for 72 years until her passing in 2023.
Bill was an Ephrata High School 1950 graduate, then served his country in the United States Army National Guard where he was stationed in Germany during the Korean conflict. After his service in the military, Bill worked as a full-time truck driver, retiring from Sauder Eggs in 1997. Bill was a longtime member of AmVets. He and Sally had a love and passion for travel and went on many trips together, favoring places like Disney World and Hawaii. Bill’s wisdom and adventurous heart will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Bill is survived by three children: Janice (Dennis) Townsley, Julia (Donald) Rock, and Barry (Sharon) Leonard; five grandchildren: Kelly, Jacie, Nick, Justin, and Nate; and 12 great-grandchildren: Tucker, Hannah, Jackson, Tanner, Emma, Noah, Aaron, Natalie, Chase, Jaxson, Gracie, and Sylvie.
Services will be private to the family. William’s final resting place will be at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors.
